Description

The Rocktron Banshee 2 Talk Box is a versatile guitar and keyboard effects pedal that takes the classic talk box concept further with an integrated effects loop, preamp, amplifier, and horn driver. Designed for easy setup and creative experimentation, the Banshee 2 eliminates the complicated connections associated with traditional vintage-style talk boxes.

Simply connect the Banshee 2 like a conventional stompbox, attach the included tubing, position it alongside your microphone, and shape your sound with the built-in controls. The result is the distinctive vocal-like articulation and expressive talking effect associated with classic talk box sounds.

Built-In Preamp & Talk Box System

The Banshee 2 features an integrated preamp with Gain, Tone, and Output Level controls, allowing you to create everything from clean, articulate tones to heavily saturated high-gain sounds. Its focused tone response helps produce clear vowel and word articulation while maintaining sustain and harmonic character.

An active LED indicator shows when the Banshee 2 effect is engaged, making it easy to monitor the pedal's status during live performances.

Integrated Effects Loop

One of the key upgrades of the Banshee 2 is its effects loop, which provides additional routing flexibility. External effects can be inserted into the talk box signal path, or the loop can be used as part of your guitar signal chain, opening up a much wider range of creative sound combinations.

This allows you to experiment with effects before or within the talk box processing for more complex and unconventional sounds.

Practice Amplifier Output

The Banshee 2 also includes an output for connecting an external speaker cabinet. With a suitable 8-ohm speaker connected, the pedal can function as a compact 5-watt practice setup, allowing you to achieve higher-volume playing without relying entirely on a separate amplifier.

I love this unit

The unit is excellent, well manufactured and intuitive to use. Excellent upgrade from the original for a variety of reasons.
Only down side, which is a huge one, is the only way to use it involves placing the tube in your mouth and making obvious mouth shapes that are very off putting to the audience. I have had many people make negative comments after a show. HOWEVER the sound generated is SO INCREDIBLE, a Wah peddle can’t touch it, and making your guitar talk (ie Joe Walsh) can’t be generated by any other device. My recommendation is to put up a secondary mic orientated facing the back of the stage with low or no lighting, dedicated to this effect.

Awesome sound

Easy to use. Don’t need microphone to use at home but recommend mic stand or table mic stand to hold in place.

Tremendo talk box

It has THAT sound!

So I have been on the fence about getting a talk box for years. My cover band does a couple songs that has the effect on the original recordings and I have always played in a way that simulates the sound, but I have really wanted the real thing. It was between this and the MXR and I chose this because of the versatility and the control layout. It's kind of big, but I have the space in my set up. I have to say, there really isn't much of a learning curve here. It was a lot easier to get a good sound than some have described. You will need more than one attachment point to your mic stand as many have noted, but other than that, this has a well thought out I/O scheme to allow you to put effects INTO a loop of the unit itself. Really a great idea if you have an extra delay pedal (or anything else you might want to try) and want to add that effect to talk box tone. I'm using the gigging downtime during the current pandemic to really get comfortable with the unit, but it honestly doesn't take much. If you have desiring the talk box effect, pay the extra money and buy this unit. You will suddenly find yourself learning all those great songs that used this unique effect.
